Oct 28, 2008 · My router is a fairly old Netgear wireless g router. My MB is extremely slow at times on my home network. I've never heard of backwards compatibility issues with wireless n cards, but I'm at a loss to explain this.

I have a wireless ISP (digis.net) as snail speed Qwest its my only other option where I live. When I plug a laptop directly into the wire from the antenna I get 4 mps download speeds, when I plug it into the router, I get sometimes slower than 1. According to my cable package, I am supposed to get upto 3 MB/sec but with the installation of my phone service, my speeds are upto 6 MB/sec (with a router) and upto 25-29 MB/sec without a router. Get this: when my HP Laptop (802.11n) is wifi connected to the N600 and I log in to my EA6350 through linksyssmartwifi.com, I run the speed test in the smartwifi application and the speed is good. But if I wifi connect to the EA6350 instead of the N600, the EA6350 is so slow that sometimes the speedtest.net web page won't even load.
When I connect my laptop via ethernet to the Nighthawks, I'm getting 900Mbps or higher download. However, when i connect via wifi, I'm luck if I break 100Mbps (usually, it's in the 60s). The only think I've changed from the efault Netgear setup is I did enable Smart Connect.
Jan 12, 2017 · Hey there ! I just bought a new mycloud 2TB version. Now I linked it to my Netgear Nighthawk X6. My speedtests says i’m having a 90 mbps speed on WiFi 2.4GHz. But if i want to transfer files my speed is like maximium 10mb/s and most of the time it’s even around the 500 kb/s… How is this possible. Any ideas how to fix? Takes ages for even transfering a little file… I hope you guys can Netgear are about as easy to contact as the dear departed and are no help either. Help! I can't just keep buying routers till I get one that doesn't slow my connection! Any real help would be gratefully received and thanks in advance. Nothing changed except the router (which is also the modem as well), i just unplug one and put the other one in, didn't even move the pc, the plugs, the phone socket, nothing else BUT the change in the router. Deleting this entry (not needed for a small home network) or replacing with anything that does not have a .com suffix dramatically increased apparent web access speed on some of my networked computers. Something about the new modem is not playing well with my netgear router. Never had this issues before and I had faster wifi speeds on telus 50 with the older modem. To make it even more puzzling, I turned off and disconnected the netgear router and turned on telus' own router (which is connected to the actiontec via Ethernet) and the speed for
